The leader of the Roman Catholic Church in Portugal, D. Jose Policarpo, gave an interview Tuesday night where he declared "marrying muslims is asking for trouble". He added that "girls should think twice about it. You are getting into a lot of trouble and not even Alah knows where the problems end". Reactions were quick to appear, with the Muslim community leader promissing to issue a statement shortly.
I was brought up in a Roman Catholic family, although not a regular mass going one, but studied in a religious school until I was 15, and even I know statements like these are absurd! The Roman Catholic Church is already loosing its faithful without needing bombastic/Middle Aged ideas to come forward. Many so called "experts" in Religion are saying he just said what the majority of the population think, but in a time muslims are frequently in the firing line for religious intolerance, isn't this a bite of the same fruit?
Let me know your thoughts on this, please...
